Where Am I? Postcard Challenge #7
This morning I am leaving on the second trip I am taking during this break. I am super excited for this trip. When I raided the library's travel section last summer before leaving, this city was at the top of my list of places to go. Here are the clues for this seventh postcard challenge:
1. Its 165 canals measure a total 75.5km in length and are crossed by 1,281 bridges.
2. The headquarters of the world's first multinational corporation were located here.
Bonus: Can you name the company?
3. This small state was a power to contend with during its Golden Age. Bonus: When was it?
Where am I going? If you think you know, leave your answer in the comments below. I will get back in the wee hours of March 7th and will draw the lucky winner later that morning. You therefore have until 6:00am Central European Time (CET) on March 7, 2010 to submit your answer.
Good luck!

Man, I feel like such a cheater just because I've been there... anyways it's Amsterdam, with the Dutch East India Trading Company (?), and the golden age was the 1600's I think... amazing city, have fun!
I feel like such a cheater because I've been there... anyways this is an easy one... Amsterdam!
The Dutch East India Trading Company?
And... golden age was the 1600's I believe.
Have fun, it's an amazing city!
It's Andrew and Mandy here. We're going to guess Holland!
1) Amsterdam has a lot of canals and very nice people, I've heard.
2) The Dutch East India Company is the first multinational corporation.
3) The Golden Age for the Dutch was during the 17th century, which was part of that whole tulip pricing thing.
Hope you have a good trip there, and that it's warmer than it is here in Calgary (-35 here... so cold!)
Have fun in Amsterdam !!!
Jocelyne here...
The Amsterdam Stock Exchange is the oldest exchange in the world...
The Dutch East India Company was the first multinational corporation in the world ...
The Golden Age (Dutch: Gouden Eeuw) was a period in Dutch history, roughly spanning the 17th century...
So... do I win ?? Thanks for the fun !
AMSTERDAM!
Venice? I'm thinking Venice.
Oh ha no wait I just figured out that it's Amsterdam (how sad, I actually went there recently and I didn't figure that out). But I do remember you being excited about that, so that makes more sense. :)
Amsterdam, city of canals, laying behind levees, reclaimed from the sea.The company was the West Indies Trading Cie,the Dutch Empire Golden age spanned from the mid 1600 to 1710 or so,making this tiny country of sailors a powerhouse around the world.
